Senior Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Autonomous Engineering team in Carmel, Indiana! As a Senior Product Owner, you will develop requirement specifications for the development team by working with stakeholders to enable autonomous features in drills and other surface mining equipment. You will work with product management, software development team, control systems team and product support team located in Australia and the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with stakeholders to define and translate product requirements into prioritized, actionable user stories aligned with project goals. Develop and maintain comprehensive Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) with technical specifications, workflow diagrams, and use cases for clear guidance to development teams. Engage cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, quality assurance) to validate and refine requirements. Analyze product requirements for feasibility, constraints, and improvements, ensuring alignment with industry standards. Maintain user stories that accurately reflect end-user needs and expectations. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and solutions. Participate in design reviews, providing technical guidance to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Stay informed on mining industry trends and advancements in earth-moving equipment. Provide technical support and troubleshooting throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 5+ years of experience developing PRDs and user stories. Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting, optimizing, and ensuring accuracy in product requirements. Proven ability to create clear, actionable documentation that supports team productivity and project success. Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies and agile development processes. Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and safety standards. Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar project management and documentation platforms.

Assets:

Ability to present project status and technical details to various audiences from team members to executives. Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to mining and earth-moving equipment. Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) systems. Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE CSEP).

Travel Requirements: Less than 20%
