Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer entail: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers. Manage server hardware and associated components. Implement and manage server virtualization technologies. Ensure server security through patching, access controls and security audits. Implement and maintain server backup and disaster recovery solutions. Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization. Manage and maintain Active Directory Domain Services. Create and manage user accounts, groups and organizational units. Ensure Active Directory security and implement best practices. Collaborate with network engineers on network design and implementation. Manage cloud-based server infrastructure. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Manage time effectively and efficiently. Perform other duties as assigned. The requirements of an Senior Systems Engineer: Capable of working under direction with some supervision and receiving guidance as necessary. Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems. Knowledge of server virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V. Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP. Ability to write scripts in Powershell and Python. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical procedures. The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints. Ability to effectively present information to top management or a board of directors. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply limited statistical analysis. Ability to apply common sense to solve practical problems and deal with variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
