Senior Systems Engineer

Paciolan is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to join our Technical Services team. In this role, the candidate will design, architect, and illustrate Backup and Storage solutions. The position will involve interaction with both internal and external clients to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction, as well as work to improve and strengthen the current Backup/Storage systems infrastructure. A critical component of the role is the ability to maintain and assess all components necessary for server security and operational management. The successful applicant will possess a strong background in installation, administration, monitoring, and triage of Backup and Storage products running on Linux.

Responsibilities:

Support our core Netbackup Enterprise Server infrastructure technologies running on LinuxProficient in Cisco MDS switch environmentSupport Pure Storage SAN disk arraysTake ownership in providing systems engineering, technical support, and performance improvements in a high-volume e-commerce environmentField, review, and resolve day-to-day hardware and software problems; Provide day-to-day maintenance of systemsProvide recommendations for system changes to management based on internal customer requests and analysisRegularly engage in hardware capacity planning activities and maintaining appropriate configuration documentationInterface with vendor partners to provide necessary contracted support and technology solutionsProvide 1st level support for Backup and Storage issues – on-call coverage requiredProvide operational monitoring and support of operational efforts 

Requirements:

4+  years experience as a Backup/Storage Engineer utilizing Linux server platforms, preferably for a high volume, 24 x 7 ASP, e-commerce environmentProficient in the following:Cisco MDS SAN switchesWorking knowledge of RH/CentOS Linux operating systemsUnix shell and / or Perl scriptingAbility to work early hour and weekend work on a rotational basisStrong collaborative orientation to encourage and foster sharing of knowledge and experience within the department and with other business groupsEngineering experience with LinuxDemonstrated ability to prioritize daily work to simultaneously make progress between client trouble calls and ongoing infrastructure projectsGood analytical, verbal and written communication skillsStrong focus on customer serviceIn depth experience with server setup and troubleshooting, server monitoring tools, systems administration and performance reporting.Demonstrated ability to contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork through collaborative behavior and open communicationExperience working in an enterprise data center environmentFamiliarity with load balancers, LAN and WAN devices, and general networking knowledgeComfortable with juggling multiple high-priority tasks and have a drive to exceed expectations

The approximate base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience as well as geographic location.
