Senior Systems Engineer (BT-24200)

The Senior Systems Engineer will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas. \n
\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nBe responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.\nPrepare materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).\nWork with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses.\nPerform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.\nUtilize a requirements management software and systems engineering tool such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama.\nCreate and manage requirements for various projects - including flow down from NASA Program to contractor Project through verification closeout as well as interface definition between subsystems.\nWork in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues.\nMaintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.\nOther duties as assigned. \n\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. \nRequires a bachelor's degree in engineering.\nMust have 10+ years of recent and related experience.\nExperience leading technical teams.\nExperience designing and leading complex system development which includes both hardware and software configuration items.\nExperience leading development projects.\nKnowledge of the systems engineering process.\nKnowledge of the system lifecycle.\nKnowledge of the systems development lifecycle to include hardware and software development process.\nUnderstanding of the space system certification process.\nUnderstanding of Design for Sustainment methodology.\nKnowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment.\nExperience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.\nExperience with concept development, concept of operation and operational concept definition, architecture definition, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.\nAbility to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.\nExperience with design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.\n\n

DESIRED:\n\nINCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.\nBasic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.\nExperience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.\nWorking knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.\nFamiliarity with NASA\/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software products.\nExperience in technical or team leadership roles.\n\n

WORK LOCATION: \n\nThis position is located onsite. \nThis position offers a 9\/80 schedule, every other Friday off.\nThis position may require some travel. \n\n
\n

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:\n

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.\nAll of Bastion's employees must be team players. \nAble to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.\nAble to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.\nMust have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.\nMust be organized with good time management skills.\nGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.\nWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). \nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).\nRegular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.\n\n
