**Job Description**
Job Summary
The Systems Engineer is a key member of a cross-disciplinary team driving the design, development and execution of the pilot control, actuation systems, and cockpit solutions program for the next generation of military and commercial aircraft. The Systems Engineer works on the development of new products, and the improvement and sustainment of products. Engineering duties will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and requirements capture through manufacture and field support
Essential Job Functions
Participate in the planning, design, development, and verification of systems.
Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
Implement verification and validation of system requirements with proper flow down and traceability for system and hardware components. Create test plans and schedules; develop test procedures and supporting documentation, execute verification tasks, and demonstrate requirements verification coverage.
Perform interface development, documentation, compliance, and system integration to ensure system success.
Provide trade studies and impact analysis, failure analysis, and modeling.
Review customer specifications and determine compliance to requirements and statement of work and/or note exceptions.
Ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects to achieve the company's strategic and financial goals.
Design new products and modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, regulatory, industry standard, and market requirements.
Provide technical support, interact, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, testing, program management, suppliers, and customers to resolve problems and implement solutions.
Evaluate design changes for impact to product design, cost, and schedule.
Will be an integral member of program Change Control Board's (CCB) to review the preparation of documentation with the end goal of system qualification and product certification.
Participate in new product development process to support design for manufacturability, design for cost, preliminary and critical design reviews. Identify and analyze potential failure modes and recommend design
improvements.

Have significant knowledge of products, systems, sub-systems, and applicable regulatory requirements for programs of highly complex systems.
**Complementary Description**
Understand and utilize the appropriate processes and tools during product development, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction. Participate in peer reviews of technical data. Work with system integration labs, simulation environment, and specialized test equipment. Update and document system requirements and interfaces. Analyze, document, and conduct verification/validation testing for systems, products, or subsystems. Capture, trace, and modify requirements.
Experience working with the FAA, EASA, and/or other regulatory agencies. Ability to manage change of product design for improvement of performance, reliability, manufacturability, or cost. Ability to gage the validity of the requirement and justify accordingly. Contribute to the development of functional, interface and performance requirements for hardware and software implementation. Contribute to decomposing requirements, apply systems engineering to identify requirements. Create test plans and procedures for verification. Create plans for system integration and qualification. Create test equipment specifications based on the product requirements.
Estimate, track, manage, and report system engineering status related to technical, cost, schedule, and risk performance. Review metrics and defect trends, identify systemic root causes, gaps and process improvements.
**Job Requirements**
Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. Develop functional, interface and performance requirements for hardware and software implementation. Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas. Able to apply the processes in place and produce a compliance matrix with respect to applicable regulations (internally substantiated). Participate in technical proposal preparation and serve as the subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal and customer reviews. Support the elaboration of a plan for an assigned project, for the systems activities. Support the customization of systems development processes. May gain MRB approval and will be able to judiciously use this authority in alignment with company policy Develop and/or utilize prognostic metrics for system design and development. Maintain awareness of technology within the system and develop technology strategies for the system. Provide input to technical and product roadmaps. Act as a mentor to more junior engineers in additional areas including project planning and execution.
Serve as the subject matter expert in proposal preparations, internal design, and customer reviews. Is a recognized expert at the company level. Apply and tailor internal processes, using knowledge of methods and tools for hardware development and documentation efforts. Create new processes and adjust tools. Able to create a proposal for a complex program. Has significant knowledge of the company and all product lines, industry practices and standards and assists in identifying gaps in the organization's technical knowledge. Balance priorities between competing projects to ensure greater companywide benefits. Audit other projects to ensure they are in compliance. Review new lessons learn and provide company plans to avoid repeating the same errors. Able to work on different branches of a product line concurrently and manage/translate the impacts from one branch to the other. Understands all processes interfacing with their organization.
Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, aerospace, electrical, engineering technology, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or systems engineering
