Work you’ll do

The Tax Accountant ensures compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting practices. The Accountant is responsible for advising on the management and reporting of financial data, ensuring accuracy, identifying areas of potential risk or opportunity, and providing business solutions. The Accountant strengthens communications and working relationships with project teams and partners, while demonstrating effective interpersonal influencing skills, and working both independently and on teams. A thorough knowledge of regulations is fundamental, and timely and accurate reporting is critical to success. The Accountant has a desire to contribute to business operations success, recognizes all these problems and earn the trust of the business team.

Perform accounting services for business units.Produce work papers to support financial statements and tax reporting.Create memos for internal oversight groups and senior management summarizing work product.Identify and document unusual business operations and events; perform as the project teams “internal CFO”.Use knowledge of domestic and international tax law to advise on business unit payroll and tax forms.Use knowledge of domestic and international accounting practices to provide informed communication with oversight bodies.Use knowledge of budget formulation to advise on the reporting and management of rolling expenditure forecasts.Advise on internal controls, corporate structures, and capital flows.Develop and foster professional relationships with other accountants and corporate business partners.Demonstrate the inclination to take initiative in daily work, motivated to find creative solutions, and strong interpersonal skills to influence those who are not direct reports.Perform other duties as assigned at the direction of the PM.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another related field7+ years of accounting and/or tax experienceCPA license (can be inactive)Ability to obtain and maintain the required Security Clearance for this role. Top Secret (TS/SCI) security clearance with Polygraph is required for this roleAbility to work on site 100% of the time in Herndon, VAMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureMust have experience with QuickBooks

Preferred:

At least 1 year of experience serving as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget / financial issuesAt least 1 year of experience preparing budget formulation materials and spend plansInternational Accounting experiencePrior professional services or federal consulting experienceFinancial reporting proficiency (especially small-medium companies)Domestic and international tax handlings (especially small-medium companies)Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (e.g., pivot tables, macros, VBA, lookups)Cost accounting/cost allocation experienceWorking Capital Fund (WCF) experienceStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgmentExperience working independently with minimal guidanceDemonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audienceProficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools, as well as Internet research tools
