As successful tax professional candidate will assist the tax department with monthly sales tax compliance, business personal property tax returns, overseeing unclaimed property reporting, scheduling estimated tax payments, and assisting with other tasks associated with sales tax research, state registrations, 1099s, income/franchise tax, and miscellaneous communications. The position reports to the Tax Director. Requires a bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years of experience in an accounting or tax environment.
What You'll Do:
Preparation of Monthly/Quarterly Sales tax returns.
Preparation of business personal property tax returns.
Oversee Unclaimed Property Reporting.
Schedule Federal and State Tax Payments.
Assist in responding to various tax notices.
Conduct research on tax compliance issues, legislative changes, sales taxability treatment, etc.
Assist with various types of tax registrations in various jurisdictions.
Assist with preparation of annual reports and other business tax filings.
Assist with 1099 preparation.
Work closely with all levels of organization.
Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed.
What You'll Need to Have for the Role:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
3+ years of general tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting.
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Accounting or a related field.
Understanding of state sales and use tax laws.
Understanding of personal property tax law.
General understanding of income/franchise tax.
CPA preferred.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and changing priorities in a deadline driven environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good research and analytical skills.
High level of intellectual curiosity and ability to learn and communicate technical concepts.
Skilled in the use of excel including V-look up and advance pivot tables.
Hands on, efficient organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Passion to deliver quality work.
Able to work independently and make sound, timely decisions.
