Job Purpose:

Supporting the Tax team in the Reporting and Compliance aspect of Tax for UK companies and branchesContinuously seeking to improve and develop processes and reporting, considering the entire end-to-end tax accounting process.

Key Responsibilities:

UK Tax Reporting and Compliance:

Analyse the P&L Expense classification for all UK companies for tax purposesPrepare Payroll Settlement Agreement (PSA) calculationPrepare UK tax computations on AlphataxManagement of timely submission of UK corporation tax returns to HMRCPrepare Current and Deferred tax calculations and reconciliations Prepare statutory tax notes disclosures for UK companiesCalculate quarterly Group Payment Arrangements and arrange payments to be made to HMRC within deadlinePerform variance analysis on the effective tax ratesCalculate and prepare journals relating to Tax True UpsProvide information request and other information to US tax teamEnsure that all tasks are performed within the documented processes and procedures and propose process changes where necessary.Calculation of Tax figures for Solvency II reportingAd hoc project work as requiredSupport the assessment of changes to reporting requirements and ensure that systems and processes are changed where required.

Performance Objectives:  

Develop a basic understanding of Corporate Tax including key transactions, processes, interfaces, and current state.Build and maintain business relationships with Finance team members and Business Unit contacts.Assist with the preparation and review of the monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provision and reconciliations.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential

Degree with minimum 3 years tax and/or accounting working experienceAccounting qualification or in final stage (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)Good understanding of accounting principles and tax knowledgeStrong Excel skills (e.g. fluent in use of vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

Insurance or finance industry experienceAlphatax tax software experienceTax qualificationPeopleSoft general ledger experience
