This is a remote position and may require an on-site presence 1 day or less per a week in the Galleria Office in Atlanta, GA.
The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for handling a variety of general tax duties. This position will apply general accounting and tax knowledge to solve an array of issues. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Tax Accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare miscellaneous tax returns, annual reports, and account reconciliationsMaintain tax filing calendar to ensure timely tax filingsAnalyze and prepare monthly journal entriesResearch and respond to federal, state, and local tax noticesReview and approve business license paymentsManagement of tax fixed assets in Sage Fixed Assets, including assignment of tax depreciation methods and lives upon acquisition, running annual depreciation reports, and reconciling annual activityAssist with company tax compliance efforts by preparing supporting schedules including state and city apportionment, making tax payments, and mailing returnsCoordinate payment of estimated income tax payments, extension payments, and other tax payments as necessaryMonitor developments in tax legislation and their impact on the companyConduct tax research and provide guidance on tax-related issues.Education and Experience:
Must have a Bachelor's degree – Accounting or Finance – PreferredMaster’s degree – Taxation or Accounting – PreferredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) - PreferredMust have a minimum of two years of experience in the tax areaRequired Skills:
Accounting Knowledge: Must be familiar with general accounting and able to extract information from the general ledger system. Tax Knowledge: Must have had exposure to income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, business licenses, annual reports, and other miscellaneous taxes.Business, Financial, and Industry Knowledge. Must be able to apply this knowledge to specific tax issues. Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Knowledge: Respond to notices and audits by identifying appropriate actions; collaborate to develop corrective action plans; and explain implications to changing laws and regulations.Negotiation: must be able to persuade others; identify and removes barriers to agreements; win concessions effectively; and provide input into future negotiation strategies.Technology: must be proficient using MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Sage Fixed Assets is a plus.
