The Opportunity:


The Senior Tax Manager will lead United States Indirect Tax Matters, covering Sale & Use, Property, Gross Receipts, Excise etc. This position will advise on new and existing business models, guiding disclosures of important tax position in Indirect Tax Returns, supervising internal and external indirect tax audit/inquiry responses, supporting systems & process improvement projects, in collaboration with various functional Teams.

What You Will Do:

Performing critical analysis on complex indirect tax issues, utilizing tax technical rules & business contextMonitoring indirect tax developments (including on digital front) across United States and analyzing impact of such changes on business operations.Collaborating with business partners to provide regular indirect tax advice for facilitating business operations and strategic projects across the United States.Analyzing Indirect tax impact for greenfield expansion projects, identifying tax savings through structuring major procurement contracts and supporting credits & incentives projects.Managing Indirect Tax Compliance Framework along with internal teams and external advisors, covering end-to-end life cycle of tax coding, use tax accruals, review of returns etc.Supporting external audits, including supervising submissions made to the tax offices such as workpapers and calculations, with or without the help of external advisors.Supporting technology implementation & upgradations, process efficiencies, from an indirect tax perspective.


Skills needed for success in role:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree within Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.Tax Planning: Knowledge of effective tax planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational, tactical and strategic tax planning in support of the business plan.Tax Management: Knowledge of Indirect Tax Laws, organizational tax practices, obligations; ability to manage organization tax related issues.Tax Regulations: Knowledge of federal, state and local indirect tax procedures and regulations; ability to adhere to Indirect tax regulations when reviewing forms as they pertain to a particular business or industry.Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Prior experience working in public accountingPrior experience working with a multinational companyEffective Communication: Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Analytical Thinking: Ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Summary Pay Range:

$144,960.00 - $217,320.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
