The role
As a Senior Technical & Governance Accountant you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be supporting all aspects of Financial Reporting and Control across the Land Sector and also be a part of FP&A reporting for the Engineering & Systems Integration (E&SI) Business Unit within the Sector. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll cover a wide range of Financial Reporting & Governance activities, including external audit, internal audit, internal controls framework and accounting technical papers. There will also be exposure to FP&A reporting including (management accounts, rolling re-forecasts, budgets, strategic plans), financial analysis and manage any ad hoc reporting requests for the E&SI BU.

 

Key individual for organisation & co-ordination of External & Internal audit for the Land Sector Supporting the Financial Reporting manager with preparation and review of technical accounting papers Assist with year-end audit packs and associated year-end appendices Assist with the preparation of the half year and year end governance packs such document of controls and letter of representation. Being a key driver in delivering a rolling assurance programme for compliance with the Sector governance and controls framework Provide FP&A service support to the Engineering & Systems Integration BU as required to include month end reporting and commentary, working capital analysis, cash flow analysis, budget, rolling re-forecast and strategic plan reports and presentations

 

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and can be delivered from a range of our hubs across the South-West including Bristol and Portsmouth, alongside home working arrangements with occasional travel to site. 

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Senior Technical & Governance Accountant

Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) and financial modelling. Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review. Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed Experience of working in large organisations with geographically spread stakeholders Excellent technical outstanding skills including long term commercial contracts Ability to maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory standards in respect to Financial Reporting

 

Qualifications for the Senior Technical & Governance Accountant 

Recognised professional qualification ACA/ACCA qualification is desirable
