The Information Technology team equips our colleagues with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.
About the roleThe Senior Technical Portfolio Manager will be responsible PMO Execution. In this role, the person will be leading multi-year large strategic programs and will work cross functionally with IT and business unit teams to deliver business and functional requirements according to defined processes, policies, and standards.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstands key business objectives and product strategy and supports other portfolio managers in meeting business objectives such as customer needs, KPIs (key performance indicators), and financial targets.Provides oversight to meet established function, quality, cost, and schedule goals and objectives for large-sized programs/projects with extensive complexity for multi-year initiatives.Manages programs/projects from initial concept through post-implementation, including multiple implementation cycles.Plans and controls multiple related projects with complex dependencies and shared resources.Builds relationships with sponsoring executives and among different groups within and outside the department while serving as a liaison (Cross Workstream coordination).Clarifies boundaries of acceptable risk and removes obstacles.Authors program management artifacts and develops and maintaisn project plans and financials.Works with resource managers and vendor partners to obtain resources.Ensures project governance is established and observed.Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes project plan activities.Authors effective, clear, concise, and relevant communication for program stakeholders.Communicates difficult and/or complex ideas and presents the appropriate message.Promotes collaborative relationships across program team members.Inspires commitment, high energy, and positive attitudes.RequirementsBachelor's degree in an Information Technology, or related field, such as Computer Science or Information Technology with 10+ years of proven experienceStrong leadership skills to direct staff and resolve issues to ensure product goals and outcomes are met.Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects/ project plans simultaneously, including tollgates and deadlines.Coordinate all project-related activities and interactions with other projectsProactively manage, mitigate, and communicate project issues, risks, and dependenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsFinancial management for the portfolio, programs, annual budget, and contractStrong presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsIn-depth expertise in product discipline, including agile, product management, and DevOps practices and values.Ability to work effectively with all individuals and groups involved in the portfolio of products (engineers, third-party vendors, business partners, etc.)Proven customer service/relations skills, including situational leadership and dispute/conflict resolution.Skilled in group and individual dynamics to effectively facilitate and independently interface with all levels of personnel, including senior stakeholders, business line leaders, and technical subject-matter experts.Ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff, instructing and occasionally directing the work of others.Demonstrated advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft Office products and a solid working knowledge of SharePoint, Confluence, and Rally.Veteran's encouraged to apply
