Senior Technical Program Manager, ORBIT
Description Amazon’s global fulfillment network enables any merchant to ship items that are ordered on Amazon to any place on earth. There is a complex network of ways in which items move between vendor locations, Amazon warehouses, and customer locations as well as several intermediate locations through which packages travel before reaching the customer. With a scale of millions of packages, each with different attributes and delivery requirements, what results is a highly dense graph of nodes. We have built a highly respected business intelligence product insight team which is focused on enhancing BI tools that are used by WW AMZL, ranging from reporting historic values (business KPIs) to conducting deep dive analyses using visualization, and running business reviews that generate in-depth business discussions and forward looking actions. The products we influence are large-scale distributed systems handling millions of packages being shipped through the AMZL network. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will own writing technical specifications and program schedules from design to release for the team. This role requires effectively partnering with other teams within Amazon and managing client launches; and in the process building long lasting working relationships with stakeholders. You will also be responsible for bar raising program standards, expectation management and providing clear and concise updates to customers, stakeholders and leadership. Key job responsibilities - Manage projects, utilizing internal and external resources, to be implemented across AMZL WW - Drive execution of vision and goals for the team - Contribute to the data strategy for AMZL - Partner with Business Intelligence and Data Engineers to locate sources of data and build the underlying datasets that will power our analytical capabilities - Engage with leaders to gather their Analytics needs and translate into priorities for our team - Effectively manage stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Planning, ACES and other support groups - Bring strategic business context to decisions made across groups - Prioritize competing projects across the entire company - Drive accountability for program results network wide About the team The AMZL ORBIT (Operations Reporting, Business Intelligence, and Technology) team works as an integral part of AMZL worldwide to ensure that its business intelligence and analytics needs are met. By providing information, insight, and decision support, we strive to enable success of all parts of AMZL. Our stakeholder set includes senior management, station operations, DSP management, Flex management, long-term planning, Ops technology (Voice of the Delivery Station, Voice of the Customer), network planning, and pretty much every BI and Ops teams in AMZL. The BI team maintains and improves metric reporting and AMZL's content in PerfectMile. This team also support publication of WBR decks across NA, EU and JP. We also support a limited set of reports in Tableau and QuickSight dedicated for analytical purposes. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of technical product or program management experience - 3+ years of software development experience - 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience - Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
