The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in HVAC/R systems, particularly in CO2 refrigeration, advanced control systems, and a passion for training and developing others. As a Senior Trainer, you will be responsible for providing SME input in the design, delivery, and evaluation comprehensive training programs that enhance the technical skills and knowledge of our employees and partners. Your expertise will ensure that our team is proficient in both conventional and advanced HVAC/R technologies, compliant with industry standards, and prepared to exceed customer expectations. Responsibilities Deliver Training: Provide SME input in the development, implementation, and delivery of comprehensive training programs for HVAC/R technicians, ranging from entry-level skills to advanced topics such as CO2 refrigeration systems, HVAC control systems (including Building Management Systems and Direct Digital Controls), and energy-efficient practices. Develop Training Materials: Provide SME input in the creation and updating of training materials, manuals, presentations, and e-learning content, ensuring alignment with the latest industry standards, codes, and best practices. Include in-depth coverage of system diagnostics, CO2 systems operation and maintenance, and advanced HVAC controls. Hands-On Training: Conduct hands-on training sessions covering installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various HVAC/R systems, with a focus on CO2 refrigeration, heat pumps, VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems, and smart controls integration. Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of training programs through knowledge assessments, practical evaluations, feedback, and performance metrics. Continuously refine training programs based on these evaluations to ensure optimal learning outcomes. Stay Current with Industry Trends: Monitor and stay current with emerging technologies and trends, such as natural refrigerants (CO2, ammonia), advanced control strategies (IoT-enabled controls, smart thermostats), and new regulatory requirements. Mentor and Support: Provide mentorship and support to trainers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. Collaborate on Training Needs: Work closely with management, field staff, and external partners to identify specific training needs, including advanced diagnostics, CO2 systems, and controls, tailoring programs to meet those needs. Maintain Training Facilities: Oversee the upkeep of training equipment and facilities, ensuring all tools and systems (e.g., CO2 racks, variable frequency drives, smart controllers) are in proper working order for training sessions. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all training activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry certifications, particularly when dealing with CO2 systems and other natural refrigerants. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in HVAC/R, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience from working in the field. Instructional Design: Experience in adult learning principles and curriculum development. Digital Training Platforms: Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), virtual training platforms, and other digital tools for remote learning. Training Experience: Previous experience in a training environment or educational institution. Proven track record of providing SME input in the designing and implementing successful learning programs that drive employee engagement and performance improvement. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
