Senior Technical Writer
As a technical writer at Granicus, your contributions will help employees of federal, state and local governments learn to be successful with our industry leading suite of products. You will work closely with product owners and managers, software developers and other subject matter experts to understand the products and collect information to write and maintain documents for our end users. This role requires writing and editing experience, as well as strong verbal communication and organization skills.This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to correspond with internal management, team members to ensure that documentation concerning products are accurate, timely and of high quality.The Technical Writer reports to the Director of Product Management Operations and will play a crucial part in supporting the overall Product department through a variety of organizational and analytical tasks.What your impact will look like here:Write and update online user guides, how-to articles, release notes, and FAQs.Create and maintain screenshots, diagrams, and other visual materials.Edit and review other writers' work.Work closely with members of the Training, and Product and Support teams.Track, collect and compile product documentation data for statistical analysis and reports.Attends meetings with Granicus departments to learn about upcoming projects and requirementsAssist with the product management operations team production and support needs, including content/data entry and migration.Perform other documentation tasks as assignedYou will love this job if you have:Minimum 2 years of professional experience: working for a US-based company, or company doing significant business in the US.Independent self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills: Can describe advanced or technical concepts to a general audience.Attention to detail, with ability to identify and resolve issues with strong problem-solving skillsWillingness to learn new applications and pick up new concepts quickly; able to write for multiple products.Thrive as a team member, but can prioritize your work independentlyStrong organizational and planning skills with excellent time-management practicesExperience using online support/CMS/content editing applications (e.g., Salesforce, Confluence, Robohelp, Madcap Flare, etc).Proficiency with word processing programs and other office-focused software/equipment, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Basic understanding of writing and editing HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldExperience writing software documentation for a non-technical audience (User guides, technical specification guides, release notes, etc).Experience working as part of a Product team.Experience creating and editing short video tutorialsThe TeamWe area globally distributed workforce across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, India, Armenia, Australia, and New Zealand. The CultureAt Granicus, we are building a transparent, inclusive, and safe space for everyone who wants to be a part of our journey.
