Senior Technician, Electronics / Calibration Lab

Job Description:

Job Summary:

Electronics Lab Technician must be capable of diagnosing electronic systems in transmission test cells to include data collection and test item integration.  The person must be proficient in the use of DVM, scopes, and soldering intricate circuits.  Identify compliance, calibration, and specification issues with an eye for technical accuracy and thoroughness.  Works closely with Engineering to prepare and communicate test data for analysis and reporting. 

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain complex data acquisition systems and electronic instrumentation including a working knowledge of personal computers. Calibration of test equipment and test cells. Maintain electronic/electrical equipment in the department.Execute test bench and/or test cell setup, including instrumentation and hardware installation. Conduct testing per plan and verify data accuracy,Prepares prototypes of components assemblies and systems of either new or current products as directed by policies and procedures or written test plans or work requests.  Implement and actively support safety policies and initiatives.  Participate in program planning and/or status meetings, as necessary. Interpret written and verbal requests and complete tasks with minimum supervision or guidance.Collaboration in a team environment.

Education Required: 

Associates degree Engineering Technology or equivalent experience

Education Preferred:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering technician role Proficiency in business communication Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Basic mechanical aptitude Ability to work around diesel and gasoline engines.Understanding of electrical drawingsAbility to troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems.Ability to build harnesses and electronic components.

Preferred:

Basic knowledge of transmission and systems Understanding of hybrid electric vehicles Some programming knowledge Experience in an engineering or research and development environment.
