Position Summary
Data Center Operations Engineers are the primary resolver and troubleshoot and solve a range of datacenter infrastructure issues including, but not limited to: hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. Key job responsibilities You will be required to engage in physical data center activities. This includes all tasks associated with planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, rack cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and rack decommissioning.
These activities include the following: Lifting and moving material up to 50 pounds each Working in cramped and/or elevated locations. Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching. Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day. Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation. Work in a noisy environment. Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts).
A day in the life a Data Center Operations Engineer will demonstrate a breadth of knowledge: Take ownership of technical issues brought by their customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution. Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving. Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context Maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting. Position Description
Data Center Operations Engineer is responsible for installation and maintenance of our Data Center equipment ensuring the smooth functioning of our data center infrastructure.
Position Responsibilities
Installing various hardware as required
Completing service orders in an accurate and timely manner
Performing routine operational maintenance support and hardware maintenance
Responding to customer requests quickly and resolving technical problems effectively
Participating in coordinated, scheduled maintenance activities with multiple parties in multiple locations, following standard procedures
Coordinating with other technical teams to complete various tasks, requests, and/or projects
Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for various needs
Qualifications
Background needed for this position.
The ability to write concise and accurate reports
The ability to appropriately escalate data center incidents and respond to alarms
The ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff
The ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise in a Mission Critical 24×7 environment
Schedule flexibility with ability to work non-standard business hours
Strong work ethic and accountability
The ability to work independently and be able to follow all escalation procedures in regard to critical or emergency situations
The ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven team environment
The ability to logically analyze and solve problems
The ability to effectively multi-task while assisting customers and working on multiple projects
Familiar with computer systems and software programs – i.e., MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook
Ability to climb and balance
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Trains and mentors Engineers through on-the-job training (OJT) and by providing direct guidance on specific tasks (e.g., deployments, break/fix); may complete additional training to obtain or maintain relevant role certifications
Looking for an Candidate that will split time between our Chevy Chase, MD office and Fredericksburg, VA office
Annual Salary
$44.17 - $68.49The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
