The Opportunity

his position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

Senior Engineer Test Development designs and develops new software and hardware to test new products. Investigates and resolves production problems involving test equipment software and hardware. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work. Performs engineering studies. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

What You’ll Work On

Develops hardware interfaces, including test points within design, test methods, and test sequences for non-product software operating on electrical test equipment.  Designs and develops interface circuit boards and fixtures for manufacturing testing of circuit board subassemblies and implantable medical devices.

Maintains existing equipment and non-product software, supporting design or manufacturing changes for product lifecycle. Leads or participates in technical investigations as needed.

Generates project plans and software and hardware documents relative to the resolution of problems and/or the implementation of new test software.

Identifies and resolves discrepancies between new design test requirements and test system capabilities using hardware or software designs. Interacts with other R&D functions as needed

Writes test plans and conducts verification testing of hardware and non-product software.

Coordinates design transfer of equipment and non-product software to manufacturing. Provides follow-up support to facilitate resolution of problems.

Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.  Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Bachelors Degree Electrical/Computer engineering or related engineering field OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum 6 years

Progressively more responsible work experience in electrical test or test equipment design/development. Demonstrated expertise in mixed signal automated testing, including circuit design and analysis. SPICE simulation experience is desired.

Familiarity with non-product software lifecycle and validation processes and regulations.

Proven expertise in C, C++, C#, or Java. C# and C preferred. Python and embedded firmware development expertise are nice to have.

Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.  Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

Experience with medical device manufacturing, design/process risk analysis, and leading technical investigations is desired.

Ability to travel up to 5%, including internationally(only if required).

The base pay for this position is $83,600.00 – $167,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
