A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Senior Test Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in developing and implementing innovative product test strategies and reliability engineering processes and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches. You will also be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements to the testing process. In this role, you will report to the Test Engineering Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
+ Understand overall customer product requirements. Develop and implement test strategies for new products, ensuring that all products are properly tested and validated before they are released to production.
+ Define adequate reliability test portfolios, including accelerated stress screening and environmental stress testing, on new designs, processes, or materials.
+ Work with other test and reliability engineers to oversee and conduct product performance and reliability tests in a timely manner.
+ Identify and implement continuous improvements to the testing process, including the development of new testing methodologies and tools.
+ Participate in product design reviews and FMEA sessions, ensuring that products are designed for manufacturability and testability.
+ Interface with design team to conduct failure analysis and address potential failure mode mitigation/elimination to at least the subsystem level. Track mitigation or elimination of failures modes to assess improvements and update analysis by evaluating test results.
+ Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
+ Use statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw data-based conclusions.
+ Mentor junior test and reliability engineers and technicians in best practices. Coach fellow engineers on test and reliability engineering concepts and techniques.
Skills You Bring:
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics, or an engineering discipline from a related field.
+ Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a test engineering role, with at least 3 years of experience in a technical leadership or management role.
+ Strong background with data analysis, statistics and problem-solving methodology.
+ Skilled in statistical data analysis using Microsoft Excel and JMP/Minitab.
+ High comfort level with operating and maintaining of test equipment and tools, and extensive experience in calibration and conducting measurement systems analysis.
+ Strong interpersonal communication and team skills.
+ Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
+ Extensive experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers and to all levels of internal management.
Preferred Skills:
+ P. Eng. or P. Eng. eligible.
+ Knowledge in reliability with a focus on reliability assessment and demonstration testing, and reliability predictions on electronic devices and mechanical assemblies.
+ Experience with characterization of optical materials would be considered a strong asset.
+ Experience with reviewing and evaluating electrical circuit diagrams and mechanical engineering drawings highly desirable.

+ Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
+ Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum/pressure systems.
+ Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
+ Excellent time management skills and commitment to meet deadlines.

Compensation:
Salary Pay Range: $80,000 to $127,000 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
