Position DescriptionWe are currently recruiting to fill a Senior Test Engineer position with our Modine Heating team in Buena Vista, VA. This position is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining robust testing processes, mentoring test technicians, and leading the design, development, and support of the Heating laboratory and its equipment. This opportunity is be a full-time, salaried position.
Key Responsibilities Guide and support test technicians in advancing expertise in safe and effective testing practices, efficient and systematic troubleshooting, and ensuring measurements are recorded and analyzed accurately. Establish calibration needs for test equipment, approve calibration certificates Oversee the design and development of a new lab space for testing products. Create specifications of lab space and equipment to test various Modine Heating products. Ensure compliance of test systems with electrical safe work practices, hazard identification / remediation, and OSHA requirements in support of zero incident safety culture. Identify potential safety hazards and provide input into the remediation process, ensuring equipment functionality meets required specifications Interpret industry safety testing standards (UL, ETL, NFPA) applicable to the products, and assure alignment with internal safety, test and quality standards, product specifications and procedures. Assist Quality and Engineering teams in internal and customer return product failure analysis.Required Education & Qualifications B.S. engineering degree from accredited university 7+ years of test engineering experience Experience in designing automated test systems for HVAC products. Experience with test system software, including use of National Instruments (Labview), programming PLC controllers, various communication protocols Experience in developing test procedures Preferred experience testing gas/electric HVAC equipment Ability to read technical documents and drawings including electrical drawings, mechanical blueprints and other electrical and mechanical drawings. Ability to implement and support custom test system software applications Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
