Primary Function:
This individual will work under the supervision of a Test Engineer to design, assemble, maintain, inspect, test, and make necessary repairs on prototype materials handling equipment parts, systems, or vehicles. They will also determine test requirements, equipment modifications and test procedures, conduct tests, analyze and evaluate data, prepare reports on findings, and provide recommendations. This work is often performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
+ Fabrication, alteration, assembly and disassembly of prototype parts and test vehicles
+ Powertrain product development including hydrogen fuel cells
+ Troubleshooting and diagnostics
+ Evaluation and reporting of test results with written, photo and video documentation
+ Complete required test activities to meet project deadlines
+ Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
+ At least 2 - 3 years technician experience working in automotive, materials handling, agriculture, or similar technologies.
+ Welding, Machining and Fabrication experience.
+ Experience interpreting engineering drawings (components, weldments, hydraulic and electrical schematics).
+ Practical understanding of machining practices, manufacturing methods and tolerances.
+ Ability to operate lift trucks.
+ Ability to meet physical demands of working on equipment (lifting, pulling, bending, and reaching).
+ Ability to work with limited supervision.
+ Extremely detail oriented for test accuracy and efficiency.
Preferred:
+ Associate of Applied Science Degree or equivalent certification.
+ Capable of using Microsoft Office suite of tools, especially Excel.
+ Experience with sensor selection and data acquisition systems such as SOMAT EDAQ, Vector CANalyzer including knowledge of vehicle CAN communication.
+ Hands-on demonstrated abilities in fabrication, machining, welding, general mechanical and electrical repair including advanced troubleshooting issues of industrial vehicles.
Work Environment
Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
