The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This role in summaryWhirlpool is looking for an experienced Tooling Engineer with a strong background in design, build and qualification of Stamping Processes. As part of the Process Transformation Group, the successful candidate will work closely with Cooking manufacturing locations, E&T (Engineering and Technology), Advanced Manufacturing, Quality and Safety to execute new manufacturing projects. This will cover coveted brands such as Whirlpool, Amana, Estate, KitchenAid, and Maytag.
The successful candidate will be at the forefront of developing and implementing new tooling technologies. This will require determining the anticipated impact on the existing manufacturing footprint and capability. Included in this role you will establish the capital and expense budget estimates along with defining and documenting potential benefits.
Minimum requirements Bachelors Degree 5+ years of Tooling Engineering experience
Preferred skills and experiences Manufacturing operation process development and implementation experienceHigh experience designing stamping toolsUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing ConceptsInterpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to work in a team environmentProject management, analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience with both transfer and progressive tooling Ability to translate component GD&T, (Geometry Dimensioning and Tolerancing), into equipment designs so that critical interfaces are assuredDemonstrate a history of gathering input from key stakeholders and gaining their buy-inDemonstrate success in translating technical concepts to commonly used business languageSupport manufacturing by ensuring proper design for cost and maintainabilityExperience working in a heavily automated production environment is desired
