Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trade Compliance Specialist to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Team in El Paso, TX or Santa Theresa, NM. The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist will lead and oversee the company’s international trade compliance efforts, ensuring that all import/export activities are conducted in full compliance with U.S. and international regulations. This individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of trade compliance policies for Legrand DPC, conducting internal audits, providing strategic guidance to business units, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all customs documentation and reporting.
You will play a key role in assessing trade risks, handling complex compliance issues, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations in global markets.
What Will You Do?
Customs Compliance & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and filing of import/export documentation, such as customs declarations, invoices, and certificates of origin. Ensure that products, raw materials, and machinery qualify for duty exemptions under IMMEX.Audit and Risk Management: Perform internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with IMMEX and customs regulations. Identify risks related to non-compliance and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.Supply Chain Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, logistics, and procurement teams to ensure that import/export processes are streamlined and comply with IMMEX and international trade regulations.Customs and Export Documentation: Oversee and review the preparation and filing of export documentation (e.g., EEI, AES filings, export licenses, certificates of origin) and import documentation (e.g., customs declarations, duty payments, and HTS classification).Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting IMMEX and the maquiladora industry, including updates from SAT and customs authorities, and ensure the company remains compliant with new requirements.COO Analysis – Conduct country of origin analysis and evaluate the application of free trade agreement for the product. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Law, or related field. A master's degree is a plus.Communication & Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is essential for coordinating with teams in both Mexico and the U.S. and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulations in both countries.Certifications:
Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar certifications are highly preferred.Additional certifications in international trade, such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), are a plus.Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in trade compliance and customs.Skills & Knowledge:
Deep understanding of U.S. and international trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, U.S. Customs, and other global trade laws.Advanced knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs), product classification, and export license applications.Experience conducting internal and external trade compliance audits and assessments.High ttention to detail to ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with IMMEX requirements.Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, especially during regulatory audits or when introducing new compliance processes.Understanding of cross-border business operations and the ability to work effectively with teams in both Mexico and the U.S. Company InfoAbout Legrand
