Senior Trader, Taxable Fixed Income - High Yield

Nuveen is seeking a Senior High Yield Trader in Public Fixed Income. The successful candidate will possess a high level of initiative along with being an energetic and flexible individual with a strong understanding of leveraged credit capital structures. Additionally, the candidate will be a contributing member of a highly successful group of professionals focused on investing in Leveraged Finance instruments including, High Yield Bonds, Leveraged Loans, CDX, and ETFs. This dynamic group proactively manages the investing activities for all of Nuveen’s Public Leveraged Finance portfolios.



Key Responsibilities and Duties

Executes the purchases and sales of fixed income instruments within the parameters set by Portfolio Managers, Head of Leveraged Finance trading or the Head of TFI Trading. Trading will be focused in High Yield Bonds in both par and distressed markets, along with, Leveraged Loans, Indexes, ETFs, CDS and other instruments as requiredWorks alongside Portfolio Managers, Senior Traders, and Research Analysts with the goal of properly assessing market liquidity conditions and achieving best executionAnalyze and timely provides details relating to primary bond issuance. This includes a solid understanding of fundamental credit statistics, relative value, and deal specifics that include capital structure and market dynamics and the basis between cash & structured/synthetic instrumentsShows an ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently with a strong attention to detail and risk managementKeeps the Head of Leverage Finance Trading, members of the Leveraged Finance Team, and senior leaders informed of market events, data, and flowsUnderstands Nuveen respective portfolio mandates/goals and proactively presents compelling relative value trades to members of the Leveraged Finance teamUnderstand how flows in one asset class may impact prices and yields in related asset classes. Points out relationships across markets and potential trades that arise from those relationshipsWorks effectively with members of other assets classes with a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharingResponsible for building relationships with existing sell-side sales coverage, traders and syndicate desks along with managing these relationships with a focus on best execution

Bachelor's Degree Required

Work Experience

3+ Years Required; 5+ Years Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

CFA preferred

Base Pay Range: $131,300/yr. - $190,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
