What a day at EXP has in store for you
Lead project teams and direct subject matter experts, and third-party partners to design and implement traffic control systems and roadway lighting projects. Deliver quality projects on schedule and meet the budget and financial requirements established for the projects Provide quality assurance and quality control oversight. Prepare technical reports and cost estimates which include the creation of functional and technical specification documentation. Prepare and review Traffic Signals and Roadway Lighting PS&E Design Requires experience with roadway lighting, traffic signals, electrical substations and distribution systems,Proposal Development Traffic Signal warrants and traffic studies development and documentation Writing and reviewing technical reports. Work on transportation projects and other related projects associated with electrical power and perform routine electrical engineering assignments, as the Project Engineer or Project Manager taking responsibility for the expected results.
Focus on traffic signals and lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS) Working with senior staff when dealing with difficult, complex and unusual matters and decisions. Performing independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions. Working independently with little supervision, depending on the complexity of the assignment. Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, municipal staff, and other stakeholders. Continuing own technical skills development and propagation of those skills to others. Coaching, mentoring and developing junior and intermediate traffic signal and lighting design employees.
What your experience looks like
Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus. 12+ years of related experience and responsibilities delivering Traffic Signals and Systems, and Lighting solutions for state highway authorities. Experience and/or knowledge of the National Electrical Codes (NEC). PE license in Georgia required, PE licensing in adjacent southeastern states a plus Experience with design and implementing Traffic Signal Systems Inter-Connected Traffic signals SCADA Systems and Traffic monitoring systems and rooms Intelligent Transportation Systems Architecture Dynamic Passenger Information (DPI) Systems Roadway, Pedestrian and Interchange lighting systemsKnowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (CSA, OBC, NFPA, AREMA and IEEE standards). Experience with electrical design tools/software such as ETAP, and SKM Knowledge of electrical calculations (short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, arc flash, cable sizing, and lighting design) Experience and understanding of FHWA National ITS Architecture Standard and its implementation is a plus Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills. Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products. Experience with conceptual plans, specifications and proposal development GDOT experience required as a consultant engineer, and other southeastern state DOT experience desirable
