Senior Training Specialist

The Senior Training Specialist reports to the Corporate Training Manager and is responsible for the effectiveness of the training program. This position requires an advanced level of knowledge of NQA-1 requirements for training development and records.

Responsibilities:

•    Strategically manage corporate and technical training programs, driving alignment with organizational goals while ensuring seamless integration of software, coordination, procedures, and curriculum/content development across teams.

•    Proactively resolve complex issues related to training programs, including advanced procedural challenges and software application optimization, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

•    Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive updates to training program-related standard operating documents, ensuring they exceed compliance standards and align with industry best practices.

•    Provide strategic direction for corporate, discipline, and project training requirements, leading initiatives to close skill gaps and enhance workforce capabilities.

•    Lead comprehensive training needs analyses, partnering with leadership and line management to forecast and prioritize future training needs and align with strategic objectives.

•    Design and deliver advanced training content, curricula, and assessment tools, leveraging expertise and industry trends to create impactful learning experiences that address complex technical challenges.

•    Lead coordination and delivery of classroom-based and virtual training programs, mentoring instructors and ensuring optimal participant engagement and knowledge retention.

•    Ensure and audit regulatory compliance, integrating evolving regulatory requirements into training programs and proactively addressing potential compliance risks.

•    Oversee and enhance training records management systems, implementing advanced data tracking and reporting practices to ensure audit readiness and streamlined access.

•    Lead optimization efforts for the learning management system and database, applying innovative solutions to improve functionality and user experience for all levels of staff.

•    Champion alignment of training programs with Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Health standards, driving initiatives to mitigate risks and promote a culture of safety and excellence.

•    Analyze and interpret advanced training metrics, delivering actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to enhance training effectiveness.

•    Mentor and guide teams in applying and advancing systematic approaches to training, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

•    Collaborate with leadership and the Training Program Coordinator to spearhead program enhancements, leveraging expertise to address evolving organizational and technical needs effectively.

•    Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Training Manager.

Key Qualifications and Skills

•    B.A./B.S. degree in a relevant/related discipline from an accredited college or university.

•    Individual should have 10+ years of training experience to include course instruction, training material development, and/or training program assessment/evaluation.

•    Prior instructor certification preferred.

•    Proficient in SAP-SuccessFactors or similar platform.

•    Proficient planning and execution skills for meeting regulatory and operational requirements.

•    Excellent skills in the systematic approach to training and training management.

•    Possess demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor in interacting and collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders.

•    Able to operate and multi-task in a challenging/dynamic environment while demonstrating planning, coordination, and organizational and problem-solving skills.

•    Demonstrated ability to work independently with little oversight or supervision.

•    Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

•    Strong communication, verbal, and written skills that are clear, concise, and accurate.

•    Excellent attention to detail in writing and reviewing of documents, such as procedures and training material.

•    Experience under NRC or DOE regulation is required.

•    Experience developing SCORM or AICC compliant content with content developer tools; experience with Camtasia is preferred.

•    Experience developing and managing training under the ADDIE model preferred.

•    INPO ACAD principles for Systematic Approach to Training is strongly preferred.

•    The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

•    Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.

Job details

Salary Range Level 10: $113,605 - $170,408

Salary Range Level 11: $125,257 - $ 208,762

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands.  Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
