Senior Transit Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Senior Transit Engineer to manage, pursue, and support the design and/or planning of public transportation projects. The individual in this position will lead and support multi-disciplinary transit projects that may include Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Streetcar, Commuter Rail, or transit support facilities.

In the role of Senior Transit Engineer, we'll count on you to:

Take responsibility for the entire design process from the Proposal through preparation of the plans, specifications and estimate of a moderate to large transit project or projectsPlan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically in excess of $5 million and involving a large project staffProduce and coordinate several projects concurrentlySupport and lead project pursuits, prepare proposals, scopes and fee estimates.Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetingsConduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals and other disciplinesCoordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on scheduleWork with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller or Company Controller and Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviewsImplement QA/QC proceduresExecute training for personnel as established by strategic plansSupervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project ManagersMaintain professional engineering registrationPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel

Experience with designing transit facilities such as stations, parks and rides, transit centers, and operations and maintenance facilities.

Solid business development skills with history of winning projects as the proposed project manager or task lead

Demonstrated ability to relate well to clients

Demonstrated presentation skills

Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design Professional Engineer (PE) license Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams Project management skills desirable Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
