Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a motivated Senior Transportation Engineer to join our team in Atlanta! As part of our team, you will leverage your experience with Georgia roadway projects to assist in our growing our Georgia practice and manage the design and delivery of various projects from conceptual planning through design, construction, and completion.

Stantec’s Atlanta office is demonstrating steady growth, due to its history of providing timely and cost-effective designs for the communities in which we live. Many of our projects are recognized by state and national award programs. We have a diversified client base of public sector (state, city, county) and private clients.

Stantec’s Atlanta office is conveniently located at Peachtree Center, right above the MARTA station and within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and shopping.

You will perform a variety of tasks with potentially complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge, sound principles, and best practices.  The role of a Senior Transportation Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects.  You will lead the design of assigned projects to ensure sound design practices, quality control implementation and focused schedule adherence.

You will provide supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assign tasks, check work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintain budgets and schedules. You will support proposal efforts to expand our project base in the Georgia market.

Your Key Responsibilities

·         Lead the development of project designs and plan production, including urban and rural roadways, intersections, and bicycle/pedestrian facilities

·         Lead and monitor work of an assigned team to ensure budgets and schedules are met

·         Coordinate with Project Managers, project team and clients

·         Serve as engineer of record for design, review and sealing of assigned projects

·         Supervise the work of assigned engineers and CAD staff

·         Lead and develop junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

·         Thorough understanding of design requirements for Georgia DOT and local governments

·         Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation

·         Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D modeling tools and other relevant design software

·         Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others

·         Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule

·         Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

Education and Experience

·         Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field

·         Licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia required

·         Minimum of 10 years highway/roadway design experience preferred

·         GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP) Certification preferred

You will work in an open-concept office setting with a hybrid (in office/work-from-home) schedule.  Candidate is expected to work in the office a minimum of three days/week to provide team leadership and staff interaction. Local travel may be required for attending client or public meetings, scoping new assignments, and visiting project sites.
