Senior Transportation Manager
Job Title: Sr. Transportation Manager Job Description The Sr. Transportation Manager oversees the daily activities of Motor Transportation Services, ensuring the efficient operation of the vehicle fleet, repair and maintenance services, fuel stations, vehicle procurement, and fleet management. This role involves adherence to industry standards and government regulations, as well as ensuring the unit aligns with strategic visions. The manager also manages workflow related to vehicle rentals, billing, and shop assignments, and oversees a team responsible for various human resources activities. The position requires a strong emphasis on customer service, safety, process improvement, and compliance with policies. Responsibilities + Manage the day-to-day activity of Motor Transportation Services including vehicle fleet operation, vehicle repair/maintenance services, fuel stations, vehicle procurement administration, and fleet management. + Consult on and coordinate the acquisition and disposal of campus vehicles and equipment according to State, Federal, and policy, overseeing record maintenance. + Conduct regular internal audits of systems and processes to ensure peak performance and alignment with strategic vision. + Manage workflow related to vehicle rentals, billing, vehicle shop assignments and completion, fuel islands, and deliveries to optimize work distribution, customer service, and staff coordination. + Oversee a team of up to 10 individuals, handling performance management, discipline, training, staffing, leave, and timekeeping activities. + Ensure staff have necessary information and resources for workplace safety, including training and personal protective equipment. + Identify key customer groups and establish regular communication to stay abreast of customer needs and expectations. + Monitor and update unit digital/web/social media presence to ensure accuracy and customer access to essential information. + Participate in on and off-campus activities and committees to build and maintain working relationships and maintain industry credentials. + Develop, communicate, and execute plans to improve shop and administrative processes and services, aiming to reduce costs and enhance satisfaction. + Provide ongoing fleet and financial information as required by the State, University, and department. + Plan for major expenditures, communicating them to management with justification, cost estimates, and impact assessment. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree. + Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in managing a motor transportation operation, preferably in the public sector. + Three (3) years of supervisory experience. + Proven provision of excellent customer service. + Experience in unit budget responsibility and managing a self-supporting organization of a large institutional fleet. + Experience in managing a vehicle maintenance and repair facility.
