About this opportunity:

Cenovus’s Turnaround team is seeking a Senior Turnaround Planner. This position is based at the Lloydminster Upgrader. 

The turnaround planner will be located at the Lloyd Upgrader Facility. Reporting to the Turnaround Supervisor at the Lloydminster Upgrader, the incumbent will be expected to assist in managing all aspects of turnaround and project activities.

The successful candidate will ensure the quality of work, scope of work, detail design development and execution align with operations and maintenance requirements.  This is an opportunity to work as part of the turnaround team to continuously review and evaluate new processes and technologies that will assist in executing safe and efficient turnarounds.

This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

What you’ll do:

Develop work packages and plans for Turnaround execution.

Develop plans for stationary equipment inspections and repairs, piping replacement in kind, leak seal packages, instrument control valve installations, PSV’s installations, and blinding/isolations. This includes ensuring all material is identified and available for timely execution

Work with project groups to ensure all turnaround/outage projects are approved and construction work packages are submitted to turnaround planning as per approved turnaround/outage level one schedule

Responsible for monitoring safety performance, contractor performance, and budget of assigned unit(s) during execution phase of large-scale turnarounds and unit outages

Assist in development of schedule for turnaround and outages using P6

Assemble masterwork list of approved job packages

Responsible to develop estimated costs for job packages, including all support and all indirect costs

Assist in developing budget and contractor strategies for large scale TA and unit outages

Complete technical review of various contractors RFPs in preparation for turnarounds and outages

Interface with purchasing, project engineering and planners to ensure purchased and stock materials are available for field execution

Continuously monitoring progress and milestones against various planned schedules, objectives, budgets, and early identification of potential problems and propose actions for control

Monitor a continuous improvement process that gathers feedback, audits, and analyses performance for the improvement of all the components of the complete turnaround process

Review and field check job packages for installation viability

Review and estimate added/found work for executions within the constraints of the turnaround

Review surplus equipment and provide actions for stocking, storing or disposal of material

Participate in job task analysis

Develop and complete material master and update existing equipment bill of materials

Maintain shutdown history files of complete jobs, assist in documenting improvements

Expedite material during turnaround

Oversee and guide temporary TA/outage contract planners.  Help to ensure contract planners meet site expectations (assist with

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Technical Diploma (mechanical engineering technology, Engineering Design/Drafting Technology, Instrument engineering technology etc.)

Journeyperson trade certificate (mechanical trade preferred)

Minimum 8 years’ experience in upgrader, refinery, or petrochemical facilities

Previous planning and/or Turnaround/outage experience is an asset.

P6 scheduling experience is an asset.

SAP experience is an asset.

Flexibility to work extended hours during turnarounds and outages

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.  A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
