Senior Underwriter
**About The Role** **Totten Insurance Group** is growing, and we are looking for a dynamic **Underwriter, Property & Casualty** working in a hybrid environment in the Oakville or Toronto locations. We are looking for someone that can work under limited direction and underwrites new and renewal business within designated authority levels. This is an ideal role for a for a strong technical underwriter with commercial underwriting production and renewal retention expertise. This role reports to the Underwriting Manager of Property & Casualty. **What You’ll Do** + Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies. + Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and delivering value-added solutions. + Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and increase market share. + Manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. + Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. + Monitor and manage risk exposures, including the handling of claims and loss control recommendations. + Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior underwriters and other staff members. + Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities. **What You’ll Need for Success** + 5+ years of experience in P&C underwriting, with a focus on commercial lines and preferably with an MGA + Strong technical knowledge of P&C insurance products and services, with an ability to apply this knowledge in a creative and innovative manner + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients + Proven track record of achieving underwriting profitability and growth targets + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and translate insights into action + Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. + Experience with underwriting systems and workflows, with a willingness to learn new technologies as needed + Experience with TAM broker management and Policy Works systems is an asset **Choose Totten and Elevate Your Career** Totten Insurance Group stands at the pinnacle as Canada's preeminent national MGA provider, specializing in niche products and pioneering solutions.
