Senior Underwriter - Property Casualty Insurance

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Account Management - Personal Lines team at Marsh as an Underwriting - Associate II – Canadian Auto Dealer Program ( National Program - CAP  Canadian Auto Dealer Program). This role will be based in Montreal. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Marsh Canada has insured auto dealers for over 35 years. CAP Dealer Insurance Solutions offers comprehensive general insurance for Canadian franchised new automobile and other dealerships, accessible across all provinces through a network of Marsh brokers and sub-brokers. In this role, you will handle Marsh Transportation Affinity Programs, including binding, quoting, and issuing documents and re-underwrite and negotiate renewals and policy endorsements. You will also negotiate the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers in writing, by telephone, electronic mail. and develop and maintain positive broker relations.


We will count on you to:

Review client/prospect exposure loss experience, current coverage and analyze the risk to determine the product/service requirements.

Identify potential issues in loss ratios and risk trends. Apply strategies to address them if necessary.

Communicate client needs and binding instructions to Client Representatives.

Implement and maintain a quality post-sales service plan, including ensuring the accuracy of policies and other relevant documents.

Develop a working relationship with all functions within the company to improve client service and increase cross-selling opportunities.

Participate in professional development activities/courses.


What you need to have:

10+ years of experience in commercial transportation.

Ability to manage an Affinity Agreement is preferred.

PAA, FPAA, or CRM titles obtained or in progress.

Strong understanding of underwriting philosophy, insurance contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting information, technical manuals, and statutory constraints.

Auto and garage insurance experience.

Problem-solving and critical thinking.

Team-first mentality.

Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, with both customers and co-workers.

Collaborate well with others, sharing your ideas, and listening to and integrating those of others.

Solid understanding of basic property/casualty/automobile insurance principles and risk management concepts.

Detail-oriented with good computer skills and proficiency in email, word processing, and spreadsheet software, as well as working knowledge of presentation software.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Results-oriented with a strong client service focus and understanding of the ever-changing market.

Ability to work independently and within a team-based environment.
