Senior Underwriting Assistant, Insurance

PartnerOne Environmental, the underwriting division of Beacon Hill, is looking for an outstanding Commercial Auto Senior Underwriting Assistant for our Service team.

Duties and responsibilities:

Review and analyze insurance applications, endorsements, and renewal information to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Ensure underwriting guidelines, state regulations, and rating systems are applied correctly for each account.

Collaborate with underwriters to review quotes, make recommendations, and prepare proposals.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state-specific regulations, industry changes, and rating factors.

Identify potential issues, discrepancies, or compliance risks and escalate them to the underwriting team.

Assist with training and mentoring junior underwriting assistants or support staff.

Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, binding and policy issuance.

Ability to think outside of the box and develop solutions for our members that address their specific insurance needs

Responsible for maintaining a high-level knowledge of coverage, exposures, rating plans and state requirements

Work closely with insurance agents, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify underwriting requirements.

Monitor and assess the profitability of accounts, recommending rate adjustments, risk management initiatives, and coverage changes to mitigate potential losses.

Qualifications

Minimum High Diploma or equivalent

At least five years of experience in commercial auto underwriting support

Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of insurance terminology

Ability to comprehend underwriting and compliance guidelines

Detailed oriented

Able to multi-task and change direction quickly and efficiently

Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment

Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Able to compile, evaluate and interpret large amounts information and data

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience in workers’ compensation underwriting support preferred but not required

Management experience a plus

Disclosure required under applicable state or municipality regulations: The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
