This role is eligible to participate in Zenith’s hybrid work schedule which provides the flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership. Selected candidate must be able to report into an office on a weekly basis.
Job Duties
Under minimal supervision, performs diverse clerical duties requiring thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable underwriting procedures and policies to support professional staff. Tasks require judgment, initiative, and clear communication. Likely assists in training junior assistants and other support staff.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analyze data sets (historical payrolls, carrier loss information, experience mod worksheets, etc.) received from branches for any potential errors or concerns that should be called out prior to referral Track large account referrals for indications, formal quotes, and final transaction outcomes Create and bundle loss sensitive proposals for captive programs, large deductibles, retrospective rating options, and specific account retention plans. Act as a resource for branch underwriting relative to policy construction, regulatory compliance, and product usage associated with loss sensitive program offerings Contributes to the sales process through new and renewal preparation including the collection of necessary internal and 3rd party information, review and annotation of key information, and clear communication and follow-up with agency (acts as a second set of eyes for the underwriter on all things). Responsible for: Prospect and customer entry and adjustments or updates, policy issuance, endorsements, policyholders correspondence, multi-state quoting, maintenance of producer files, running management or marketing reports, assist with Premium Audit issues and corrections, past due collections etc. Daily issuance of cancellation, rescission and reinstatement notices. Builds and fosters internal and external relationships in order to provide a superior underwriting product and customer service experience. Clear communication and partnering with underwriters and agents. Responsible for file completion and assisting the underwriter in prioritization of accounts. Be proactive, fluid, and flexible in tasks and procedures as direction and needs of the underwriter can change quickly and frequently. Likely to be involved and may establish visits with agents or clients. Within defined parameters and authorities may perform renewal and/or small new business underwriting. Under minimal supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies or by applying previous Zenith precedents. Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is difficult or somewhat complex. Applies advanced skills to resolve more complex problems independently. When needed refers overly complex or unusual problems to Supervisor or Underwriter along with proposed solutions. Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Provides general and specific guidance, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel.. Adopts and supports new processes and is an early resource for the rest of the department. Works closely with underwriter and team to improve processes and outcomes. Understands the complete underwriting process and can engage the appropriate people to process an account from start to finish when the underwriter is unavailable. Consistently looks for and tests process improvements and elevates thoughtful ideas, problems, and opportunities to the appropriate party. May modify processes to resolve situations. Works productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis. Responds positively to direction and feedback on performance. Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor. Performs other duties as identified or assigned. Elects for side projects where their expertise can support the department through unique perspectives, troubleshooting, assertiveness, and vision. Computer literacy required and proficiency with policy systems. Strong math and reading skills. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of tasks and responsibilities. Strong skills in time management, organization, and problem solving. Policy systems proficiency preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on telephone and email communication. Demonstrated ability to readily learn and apply new information/concepts in area of practice. Effectively applies skills in accomplishing tasks.The expected salary range for this position is $58,481.79 to $73,102.23. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
