**A Brief Summary of This Position:**
The Senior Unified Communications (UC) Engineer serves as a key member of the UC Engineering Team. The role requires technical expertise and the ability to effectively collaborate with internal technology teams. The incumbent is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting integrated communications systems and must have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale systems with journeyman level troubleshooting skills, problem solving techniques, attention to detail, analysis, communication, and leadership skills. This position requires a wide range of technical knowledge and the ability to work under pressure while providing exceptional customer service and professionalism. Required technologies include telephony systems and protocols, SBCs, SIP Trunks, UC appliances, paging systems, gate control systems, network infrastructure, protocols and best practices, security best practices, servers, operating systems, packet captures, artificial intelligence, and experience with mainstream cloud-based UC platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

**Essential Functions:**
+ This position reports into Manager IT Unified Communications and has no direct or indirect reports.
+ This role requires up to 5% travel (internationally/domestically), including overnight stays.
+ Develop and design Unified Communication (UC) Systems that align with organizational goals.
+ Implement paging systems, gate control systems and any other associated solutions and work closely with business units to fulfil requested use cases.
+ Design and implement system enhancements, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and failover capabilities.
+ Ensure that all UC solutions comply with industry regulations and internal security policies.
+ Develop and maintain Information Technology operational processes and tasks.
+ Collaborate with network and security staff to ensure smooth, secure and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
+ Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
+ Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
+ Monitor, analyze, and predict trends for IT equipment performance, resource allocation, and data growth to recommend enhancements to the IT management team.
+ Perform ongoing hardware and software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software.
+ Create required reports in response to business user needs.
+ Design and perform system and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.Effectively communicate project expectations throughout the project lifecycle to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
+ Coordinate procurement of hardware, software, and services, ensuring the best terms and support.
+ Develop comprehensive documentation for system design, implementation processes, and operational procedures.
+ Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on UC systems and best practices.
+ Use appropriate tools to review, monitor, and manage schedule project timelines and milestones as required by changing conditions.
+ Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies.
+ Schedule and facilitate meetings related to information technology projects.
**Other Important Details about the Role:**
This position is a master craftsman role providing a high level of support for global UC infrastructure operations. This role designs, leads and drives technology solutions in the UC space. The Senior Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for the design, administration and management of global UC systems and provides leadership and consultancy for global systems concerns, planning and implementing high availability, and reporting to management the operational status of the systems environment.
**Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):**
+ Preferred Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
+ 6+ years systems administration experience in an enterprise level environment.
+ Experience with system monitoring and performance analysis tools.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Proficient in troubleshooting both system and application issues.
+ Strong understanding of network protocols and security.
+ Working knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
**Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:**
+ Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, MIS or CIS.
+ Energetic and self-motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and infrastructure teams.
+ Strong working knowledge of proactive and auto-corrective monitoring practices.
+ Proven leadership skills.
**Working Environment and Physical Efforts:**
Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Up to 5% (domestically/internationally) including overnight stays, travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
