**Senior Usability Engineer**
We’re looking for a senior usability engineer for our Image Guided Therapy Systems business in China to strengthen and expand our usability team and adhere to the new NMPA usability guidelines.
The senior usability engineer ensures that products we develop in Philips are safe, effective, efficient, intuitive, and satisfactory to use. He/she is responsible for raising awareness to usability & user-centered design, and advocates for user needs and patient safety in the business and the project team, working together with UI/UX designers, clinical specialists, product managers, developers, and system engineers.
**Your role:**
**The senior usability engineer defines and leads the usability activities in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team (including regulatory and quality).**
Those activities include:
+ Conduct user research including hospital observations, being the eyes and ears of the usability team in China regarding workflow analysis and insights. Create task analysis and use scenarios.
+ Analyze post-market data including recalls, adverse events and literature.
+ Lead multidisciplinary usability FMEA / use-related risk analysis sessions, to identify use-related problems and support the design of safe-to-use user interfaces.
+ Plan, execute and report usability evaluations in China and ensure critical findings are fixed.
+ Conduct summative evaluation and create the usability medical device documentation, in compliance with the NMPA guidance (priority), as well as FDA and IEC62366-1 (if needed).
**You're the right fit if:**
**Proven experience and knowledge:**
+ Minimum 5 years’ experience of usability engineering of complex systems, medical devices preferred, from early phases of gathering user needs to late phases of product validation and post market follow-up. Including: analyzing post-market data, performing and reporting usability evaluations, writing usability documentation.
+ Good knowledge and understanding of regulation requirements for usability of medical devices: NMPA (priority), FDA guidance and IEC62366-1.
+ Good understanding of quality systems (QMS) and risk management principles.
+ Good understanding of the healthcare domain and clinical workflow in hospitals.
+ Preferred: experience in working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in a complex global company.
**Academic background:**
Degree in human factors engineering, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, product/interaction design or other relevant academic background.
PhD or Master’s degree preferred.
**Skills:**
+ Highly independent and pro-active, being the first representative of our team in China.
+ Very good communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
+ Ability to “speak up” and effectively advocate for user needs and user experience with key stakeholders in the business.
+ Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals and stakeholders, from around the globe.
+ Ability to write high quality formal documentation.
+ Excellent English, written and verbal.
