POSITION SUMMARY:          

 
The Senior User Experience (UX) Designer is part of the Experience Team within the Kemper Auto Transformation Office. The position is responsible for ensuring that user experience whether customer, agent or employee is top of mind throughout the project lifecycle (assessment, initiation, execution). The role involves developing user-centered designs to visualize and shape business requirements to support:


•    Delivery team understanding of business needs and outcomes
•    Stakeholder decision making and satisfaction 
•    Streamlined project execution
•    Reduced project costs

The Senior UX Designer will work on a variety of projects that advance Kemper’s customer, distribution, and product capabilities to achieve business outcomes. Additionally, this position will play a key role in evolving our customer onboarding and servicing communications (email, SMS, forms), specifically related to templates, testing, consolidation, and measurement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design digital wireframes/prototypes/interfaces to make business requirements ‘real’ for decision makers and delivery teams. Maintain digital wireframes/prototypes/interfaces for current applications (e.g., customer and agent portals) that employees can access to increase their knowledge.Lead usability testing with customers, agents, and employees to validate designs.Develop and maintain email templates. Create process for testing emails across different clients, devices, and browsers and tracking results (e.g., delivery rate, opens, click throughs, conversion rate). Modify templates based on results.Support IT in development and testing of designs. Nimbly develop working knowledge of relevant Kemper delivery systems, including SmartComm, Outlook, ForgeRock, and OneSpan.Collaborate with other UX experts across Kemper to share knowledge and experience. Develop and document UX design system.Support growth of UX skills across project teams.Adhere to brand design standards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Design, or related discipline or equivalent experience with minimum 7–10 years of overall user experience design experience.Ability to translate creative and business input into feasible solutions that achieve business outcomes.Leadership experience with a project team or community of practice.Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience presenting to senior leaders.Action-oriented and eager to take on challenges with urgency, energy and enthusiasm. Consistently achieving results, even under difficult circumstances.Collaborative and a team player that is eager to build strong working relationships across the organization to achieve shared objectives.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with change, and juggling multiple assignments simultaneously.Insurance experience preferred.

PROGRAM AND CODING TOOLS:

Proficiency in leading design tools such a Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InvisionDesign principles and best practices for apps and websitesWorking knowledge of HTML in collaboration with CSS and JavaScript to ensure design vision is translated accurately into functional, high-quality codeStrong mobile-first design experienceUsability best practices and experience with usability testingAccessibility best practices for apps and websitesProcess mapping skills strongly encouragedThe range for this position is $86,200 to $143,600. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.  This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)  Sponsorship is not accepted for this opportunity.This is a hybrid role working out of our Chicago, IL or Downer's Grove, IL office.
