**This Opportunity** WSP seeks to hire a Senior Vice President to lead WSP’s **Archaeology & Cultural Resources Services** in California, part of our **Earth & Environment Business-Line** . The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in California and nationally as we continue to strengthen and expand our natural and cultural resources services across the nation. In this role, you will be a leader who leverages cross collaboration with other WSP business-lines such as Transport and Infrastructure (T&I), Property and Buildings (P&B), Energy, Water, Federal, Advisory Services, and Project Management and Construction Management (PMCM) to bring value to our clients. Come join us and help shape the future! **Your Impact** WSP’s vision is based on a passionate, thoughtful strategy that embraces the four pillars of our business: Clients, People & Culture, Operational Excellence, and Expertise: **Clients** + Drives performance of the archaeology & cultural resources services, working with other senior practitioners and business-lines, strategically grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients. + Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with the broader California Region and National Client and Sector Teams. + Integrates as the “face of the company” across the State of California and nationally, attending industry events, conferences and forums as relevant to our strategy and to advance our profile as a thought-leader in this space. + Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end-markets. + Utilizes our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across the region, offices and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery. + Drives growth through excellence in delivery and client relationship management and being a “trusted advisor”. **People & Culture** + Works with regional and national business-line leadership to attract the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive. + Emphasizes employee training and development to create a unique work experience. + Inspires, motivates and promotes the best of WSP to our clients and communities to ensure strong employee engagement and morale. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. **Expertise & Operational Excellence** + Lead the most complex and largest scale cultural resources projects within the discipline, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees. + Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local environment laws, preservation guidelines, policies and regulatory requirements. + Oversee internal vision and mission for the services, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy, and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, and client value ratings are continuously improved. + Lead Archeology and Cultural Resources Practice Area Network (PAN) meetings and continuing educational opportunities for cultural resources, providing updates and recommendations to staff that ensure all appropriate measures are taken to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery within the discipline. + Assume a leadership role in the Archeology & Cultural Resources PAN, supporting the PAN Leaders, maintaining a high profile as a subject matter expert, contributing to knowledge management and expanding the skills of WSP’s A&CR practitioners. + Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Cultural Resources and Archaeology work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design, strategic consulting, and program management). + Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings. + Provide leadership for proposals and project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the discipline. + Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents for complex projects and initiatives that result in sound scientific and regulatory conclusions to minimize or negate impacts to resources of cultural and scientific significance. + Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients. + Encourage, support and promote the technical and professional development of local WSP staff, including participation in national/global technical practice area communities and industry organizations to reinforce WSP as a thought-leader in this space. + Remain current in latest archaeological methods, procedures, subject matter, and techniques. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field (or equivalent experience). + 15+ years of relevant post-education experience working in archaeological fieldwork to include site recordation, survey, construction monitoring, and excavation in a corporate environment. + Experience in variety of business & technical leadership roles, including P&L experience and leading large, remote working teams. + Extensive knowledge of relevant State and Federal protection regulations, NEPA, CEQA, preservation guidelines, and consulting processes pertaining to the specific cultural resources/archaeology position. + Demonstrated technical competence leading environmental permitting of assigned projects within sectors and end-markets (commercial & industrial, transportation infrastructure, energy, federal, state and local government and oil & gas) + Expert in relevant environmental laws, prehistoric and/or historic archaeology preservation regulations, compliance practices, record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization + Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business. + Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization. + Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment. + Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits. + Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation/communication software, technology, and tools used in the corporate environment. + Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Frequent travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements and internal leadership initiatives. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Master’s Degree is preferred. + Essential professional licensure/certification. + Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training. + Large key client account management experience with demonstrated track record in sales growth. + International experience in related services and end-markets + Spanish to fluent/professional level + Experience working for Federal agencies is beneficial WSP Benefits: WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $157,000 - $285,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
