Senior Vice President, Government Relations

The Senior Vice President, Government Relations is a key member of QTS’ leadership team, working closely with the C-Level Executives and key stakeholders within Blackstone while serving as the primary spokesperson for government relations matters. This role will also collaborate cross functionally with their peers in QTS public relations and Blackstone public relations.

This role includes cultivating engaging relationships with government officials, monitoring legislative developments, and shaping QTS’ positioning in support of public policy, economic development, and crisis management, while partnering with QTS Marketing and Communications.

You are a strategic leader and creative thinker with a record of supporting organizations in all aspects of external communication. You are a collaborator with a can-do attitude and the ability to work across multiple silos and projects, who delivers effective communications strategies on deadline in a demanding environment. You are a leader as well as a doer, who thinks big-picture and rolls up your sleeves to go above and beyond to support mission, vision, and purpose.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for QTS in government relations matters.Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the data center industry.Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and policymakers.Advocate for QTS’ interests through strategic engagement with government entities.Develop and implement strategies to enhance QTS’ economic positioning.Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, industry associations, and advocacy groups.Collaborate with internal teams to align business strategies with economic goals.Address and mitigate potential reputational risks through crisis management strategies.Build and maintain a positive public image through effective communication.Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, including local reporters in key development markets, real estate trade press and others. Formulate strategies for engagement, both proactive and reactiveRefine and proactively share QTS’ ESG story to external audiences.Represent QTS at conferences, forums, and industry events (25% travel)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field (economics, government, political science, public relations)Fifteen or more years of experience with government affairs, economic relations, public policy, or a related field.Strong understanding of economic principles and their intersection with government policies.Experience working with, providing counsel to and ghost writing for senior executives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Financial communications experienceReal estate experience and/or real estate development experience
