Job Description
Brookfield Credit manages approximately $305 billion of assets globally, focused on a broad range of private credit investment strategies, including infrastructure and renewable credit, real estate, asset backed, and corporate credit. Return profiles span investment grade, sub-investment grade, and opportunistic credit. The Infrastructure Credit team manages capital on behalf of Brookfield Wealth Solutions (“BWS”), closed-ended funds, and separately managed third-party accounts. BWS is the insurance arm of Brookfield with a permanent, evergreen, and rapidly growing capital base, with AUM of over $100 billion with substantial growth expected in the future.
Position Summary:
Based in New York, Brookfield is seeking a candidate to work as part of the Infrastructure Credit team, supporting the origination, execution and management of infrastructure credit and structured equity investments for funds managed by Brookfield Credit.
This role is ideally suited to a self-motivated individual seeking a dynamic work environment. He/she will (i) source and screen new investment opportunities; (ii) perform due diligence including operational, financial, valuation and industry analyses; (ii) review detailed financial models including working with associates and analysts on the team to prepare underwriting cases and investment committee material; (iv) structure and execute term sheets and financing documents; and (vi) monitor existing portfolio investments.
Responsibilities:
Working with operational teams, lead the execution of the due diligence process for a transaction that supports the validation of the business case supporting a debt investment and identify key transaction issues
Working with legal, tax and other internal teams, lead the transaction execution process, including ensuring transaction documentation and structuring are consistent with the business case
Prepare investment committee presentation material and other documents such as bid letters and term sheets
Establish the investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and assist in developing ideas for a debt transaction / deal structure
Lead industry and market research to support the development of investment strategies or identify debt/equity opportunities
Network and develop new investment ideas to grow the business
Work in a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters collaboration, personal development and mentoring and skills development of junior team members
Lead the financial due diligence process including overseeing modeling and valuation and analysis prepared by junior colleagues
Contribute to a dynamic, team-oriented working culture
Conduct special projects as required
Requirements:
10+ years of investment banking experience or investment experience preferably in the infrastructure, credit investing and / or leveraged finance space
Strong economic, financial and data analysis skills
Strong understanding of discounted cash flows, financial statements, interest rate risks and equity valuation
Ability to understand and manage financial modeling
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced-environment
Strong relationship and communication skills
Skill to draw upon internal and external resources as required
Ability to get work done through others, including a ‘roll up his/her sleeves’ attitude
Capable of organizing high caliber presentation materials
Good understanding of complex legal, financial and business issues as related to sourcing and financing
Sense of risk management and fiduciary responsibility
