Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer - HR Corp Administration

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, Public Administration, Psychology, or a related field and at least 15 years of progressively responsible HR experience, with a minimum of 7 years in HR executive leadership roles.  Extensive knowledge of employment law and HR best practices. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Doctoral Degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related field.  Senior-level HR experience in an academic medical center or large healthcare organization.

 

Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (SVP & CHRO) provides strategic leadership for all human resources functions at UTMB. This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals while ensuring a high-performance culture and enhancing employee engagement across the institution.

Scope:

Institution-wide 

 

Job Duties: 

Lead the development and execution of HR strategies that support organizational goals and objectives.  Develop and promote innovative employee experience strategies, utilizing feedback mechanisms and engagement surveys to create a responsive   workplace culture that meets evolving employee needs.  Oversee HR departmental operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.  Collaborate with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with the strategic direction of UTMB.  Monitor HR employee performance and hold team members accountable for their contributions, while fostering a high-performing team culture   based on collaboration and customer service.  Analyze HR metrics and workforce data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.  Lead talent management initiatives, including workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.  Develop and implement innovative compensation programs and employee development programs to enhance skills and career growth.  Manage HR budgets and resources effectively to support operational needs.

Administrative and Supervisory: 

Provide leadership and mentorship to HR staff, cultivating a cohesive HR team with a collaborative and customer-oriented culture.  Evaluate organizational structure and staffing needs to ensure alignment with strategic goals.  Lead change management initiatives to support organizational transformation.

 External Relations and Development:

 Serve as the primary HR advisor to the executive team and President.  Represent UTMB HR to UT System and other UT entities, external forums, professional associations, and community engagements.  Build partnerships with other organizations to enhance HR practices and programs.

 

Marginal or Periodic Functions: 

Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Performs related duties as required.
