The Underwriting Technical Resource within Chubb North America’s Property Tower will play a critical role in supporting our North American underwriting team by leading technical training, and resource development. This position will initially focus on enhancing the effectiveness of our underwriting processes and ensuring adherence to best practices across our Major Accounts Property and Natural Resources portfolios and identifying areas where best practices can be applied to other groups. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of property underwriting in a major accounts context.

Technical Support and Guidance: Training and Development: Process Improvement and Efficiency: Data Analytics and Reporting: Collaboration with Stakeholders: Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Documentation and Best Practices: Serve as a key technical resource for the Major Accounts Property and Natural Resources underwriting teams, offering expertise on complex risk assessments and underwriting decisions. Provide consultation on risk selection, pricing strategies, and coverage terms specific to major accounts. Provide insight and review of coverage form wordings for staff to ensure wording meets Chubb requirements. Assistance the Natural Resources unit in development and documentation of processes and underwriting guidelines specific to the unit. Take the lead for the Specialty CAT unit. This will include finalizing the strategic plan for the unit. Work with business leaders to develop programs for underwriting staff, focusing on improving technical skills, product knowledge, and insights on emerging industry trends. Mentor underwriters to foster development and enhance overall team performance. Lead initiatives aimed at streamlining underwriting operations and improving the efficiency of processes relating to Major Accounts Property and Natural Resources. Assist with development and maintaining underwriting guidelines, tools, and resources tailored to major account specifications. Analyze portfolio performance, risk exposure, and underwriting results, providing insights and strategic recommendations to enhance profitability. Utilize data analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the Major Accounts Property and Natural Resources portfolios. Collaborate with other internal departments, including actuarial, claims, and risk management, to ensure a comprehensive approach to underwriting major accounts. Facilitate communication between underwriting, sales, and executive teams to align strategy and maximize business opportunities. Ensure that underwriting practices comply with industry regulations and corporate guidelines, maintaining the integrity of the underwriting process. Assist in audits, compliance reviews, and the development of action plans to address any identified gaps. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including underwriting guidelines, process maps, and best practices specific to Major Accounts Property and Natural Resources. Stay abreast of industry developments and innovations, ensuring that team practices reflect the latest standards. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Insurance, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred (e.g., CPCU, AIC). 15+ years of experience in property underwriting, with specific experience in major accounts or large commercial risks preferred. Ideal candidate will also have experience underwriting energy related risks. Strong technical knowledge of property insurance products, underwriting standards, and risk assessment methodologies. Proven experience in process improvement, data analysis, and developing training programs. Advanced proficiency in underwriting software and analytics tools, as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.The pay range for the role is $204,500 to $276,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
