The Senior Vice President of Business Development executes Capstone’s go-to-market strategy and drives growth for the company. Working with subject matter experts, this person is responsible for achieving defined revenue and margin targets by leading a team of sales professionals in the pursuit of complex solutions with new and existing customers. The role is Player / Coach, meaning this candidate must achieve both team and individual sales success. This position is a critical part of the management team that drives growth and execution, playing a key role in developing the company’s strategy and product development.

The ideal candidate will have extensive logistics experience, as well as broad and deep relationships with buyers of last logistics services. The candidate needs to be an effective leader, collaborator, and motivator who can drive an organization to success. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that requires a strategic, personable, creative, analytical, results-oriented, and organized leader. It requires a hands-on, sleeves-up, team player with the ability to work as an equal in an environment of long tenured professionals while balancing the need to mentor others.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead a team of sales, marketing, and account management professionals to achieve individual, team and divisional goals. Manage the day-to-day activities of the sales organization, inclusive of pipeline management, sales strategy, cross-selling opportunities across divisions, prioritization of existing and potential customers, and training activities. As part of this objective, clearly communicate expectations to the sales organization and manage to company objectives. Both individually and with the team, this person is responsible for identifying and successfully closing opportunities with new, strategic target companies. This involves identifying business opportunities, designing creative solutions with internal stakeholders, selling concepts to new customers, and building/maintaining relationships throughout diverse organizations. (player / coach) Work with division leadership and Chief Commercial Officer to craft and execute a sales and marketing plan to achieve desired growth goals. Identify new market opportunities and develop strategies to obtain new relationships that generate revenue or enable revenue for other sellers in the organization. Clearly articulate and define Capstone’s position in the market and its competitive advantages, and execute a sales strategy well-aligned with trends in the market. Deliver the required level of sustained top-line and bottom-line growth while maintaining industry leading win percentages. Communicate a clear vision around sales strategy and marketing throughout the company. Conduct industry and target customer research as well as competitor analysis. Stay current on market trends, research, and tools. Use insights to inform business development strategies. Partner and collaborate with all company divisions to successfully execute cross-selling activities. Build sales teams into a high-performing organization by enhancing best practices and by hiring, training and retaining top talent. Specifically, define and coordinate sales training programs and administrative processes that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives. Instill a culture of results, urgency, and effective communication. Represent the company at industry events and conferences. Engage with stakeholders to build the company’s brand and reputation. Develop, manage, and provide regular reports on the status and performance of sales team and new customer operations. Responsible for all administrative sales reporting, data management, and CRM maintenance. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. #CB
