Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water Wastewater Project Manager to join our Resilience Water Team in Virginia Beach, Virginia! This role will lead and direct the development of water and wastewater opportunities in the Hampton Roads and Mid-Atlantic Region. 

The Project Manager will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge in conveyance, pump stations and treatment projects, along with their previous project management and business development expertise, to successfully lead and execute projects and manage project pursuits primarily within the municipal markets in Virginia and the Carolinas.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead and manage the development of water and wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager. You will be responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction administration of projects to ensure strict compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, statutes, rules, and regulations, while upholding Arcadis' high standards for quality and safety practices. A key aspect of the position involves maintaining effective communication with clients to establish clear goals and objectives for project teams, as well as coordinating resources efficiently to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the performance expectations set by the client.

You will be expected to provide valuable technical expertise across multi-disciplined projects, serving as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor as needed. In a leadership capacity, you will supervise and support the work of colleagues, offering mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff to facilitate their professional growth within the organization. Your role will also involve direct engagement with clients to understand their requirements, provide effective solutions, and proactively develop and strengthen relationships with targeted clients to foster continued business growth.

Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in leading or supporting teams during the marketing and proposal phases of projects. This will include tasks such as crafting winning proposals, delivering compelling presentations, and formulating scopes of work and budgets for various water and wastewater projects. As projects may require it, some travel may be necessary for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, or general planning purposes, depending on the requirements of the project and team staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

10 years of relevant water/wastewater experience. Project Management experience. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering. P.E. License and ability to acquire PE Licensure in Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland within 6 months.

Key Skills/Attributes

Excellent technical engineering and writing skills. Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills. Leads teams and collaborates with clients Client relationships/experience with the local municipalities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Client experience within the Hampton Roads region. Project Management experience beyond the water and wastewater market.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
