The selected candidate will support a variety of research and development activities for the eVinci Microreactor test program at the new 51 Bridge Street facility in Pittsburgh, PA.
Your Day-to-Day:
· Research and develop new weld qualification methods, processes, and procedures, including laser welding of complex alloys.
· Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
· Plan and perform/direct weld process qualifications (Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) & Weld Qualification Testing)
· Lead and execute weld qualification testing programs throughout all phases of the design process.
· Develop and implement design requirements, test plans, specifications, and procedures in accordance with quality assurance program requirements.
· Perform/direct custom welding and machining operations.
· Conduct failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.
· Prepare technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.
· Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, and/or Solidworks.
· Analyze engineering designs for welding requirements.
· Actively coordinate with site environmental health and safety to design and implement safety protocols into experiments.
· Technical writing, including development of technical reports.
· Reduce and analyze large data sets using Matlab, DIAdem, or Mathcad.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
· Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience).
· Working experience with ASME Section IX and AWS D1.6
· Welding experience using these processes: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, brazing, and LBW.
· Prior experience working in a lab/testing environment.
· Mechanical problem-solving skills.
· Strong organizational, planning skills, and attention to detail.
· Highly motivated, self-starter.
· Good judgment and the ability to prioritize a number of diverse tasks.
· Orientation towards achieving Customer Success.
· Effective communication, teaming, and team building skills.
· Strong technical writing ability.
· Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices.
· Preferred experience in 3D modeling software (Inventor or Solidworks).
· Preferred experience with finite element analysis utilizing ANSYS workbench.
· Preferred pressure, temperature, and fluid flow instrumentation experience.
· Preferred working knowledge of ASME Section VIII BPVC code.
· Preferred experience with ultra/high vacuum applications involving design and selection of pumping systems and materials at room and high temperature conditions.
