Senior Welding Engineer

Overview

Responsible for providing welding and project engineering support to services operations. Develop and maintain quality procedures, processes, and documentation by providing support to sales and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Develop welding procedures and procedure qualification records and coordinate required lab testing; maintain and update welding procedures. as needed.Perform engineering analysis and calculations; develop inspection and test plans, installation procedures, data sheets, engineering packages and other associated documents for internal and external projects.Develop and maintain welder performance training and qualification program and ensure in-house and contract welders are qualified and maintain associated records.Assist with managing internal and external projects including planning, coordinating, and executing.Assist with development and maintenance of QMS, including internal and external audits, and obtain and maintain required certifications.Assist sales with pricing/estimating, development of proposals, and technical support.Assist with vetting, set-up, and maintenance of suppliers, vendors, and contractors.Perform engineering and quality reviews for procurement purposes and assist with procurement for internal and external customers.Work requires traveling up to 50.0% of the time, including overnight stays.Work requires a valid driver’s license and/or passport.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other related field, and five (5) to ten (10) years of welding procedure development and QA/QC experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.Experience with oil and gas pipelines and facilities required.Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.Welding Examiner Certificate of Competency required.Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) membership required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of oil and gas pipeline and facility codes.Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills including the ability to work in a dynamic environment and under pressure.Ability to perform engineering analysis and calculations.Ability to speak English required.Ability to speak French required by location.
