Senior Writer, Assistant Vice President

Who we are looking for

As an experienced, highly skilled writer with a strong financial services background, you will play a pivotal role on the Content Strategy Team, partnering with marketing managers, digital producers, product experts and industry thought leaders to deliver engaging, impactful B2B content across a spectrum of investment topics. Your work will span digital-first and long-form content, from annual reports and articles, to blogs and websites, social media posts and commercial marketing emails, combining deep financial acumen with the creative agility of a digital marketer. Like us, you spurn jargon and passive prose, acronyms and compound sentences. Instead, you opt for clarity and a fresh approach, seizing the opportunity to turn complicated topics into easy-to-understand language that supports our brand attributes and grabs your audience’s attention. As part of the Global Marketing team, this role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Why this role is important to us

State Street’s Global Marketing group is responsible for telling our company’s story — to all of our audiences and through a variety of channels. As part of that group, the Content Strategy and Development team is foundational to ensuring that we maintain a voice that’s clear and conversational, elevates our leadership role in shaping the world’s financial markets, and gets to the point on the topics that matter most to our clients, prospects and stakeholders.

What you will be responsible for

As AVP, Senior Writer, you will:

• Craft content that is customized to address the specific needs, interests and pain points of institutional clients, including asset managers, private equity firms and C-suite executives

• Adroitly adapt key messages and value proposition guidelines to a variety of forms including solutions-based content, marketing collateral, web landing pages, blog posts, case studies, perspectives pieces, email marketing outreach, video scripts, social copy and more

• Champion best practices in writing and activating promotional content across digital channels, refining content to align with established goals for user experience, search engine optimization, information architecture, customer journey and funnel marketing strategy

• Serve as a strong ambassador of State Street’s style, brand, voice and tone requirements, ensuring consistency across all content deliverables

• Participate in the review and evaluation of content performance metrics, making recommendations on how to optimize content efficacy.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

• You are a self-starter with a nose for storytelling; you have a keen sense of industry topics that resonate with our target audiences: investors and sophisticated global financial services institutions

• You are skilled at crafting content tailored to the client journey, adapting and optimizing content to perform across different formats, channels and mediums • You confidently communicate content marketing and promotional best-practice approaches and recommendations to marketing and campaign teams and business stakeholders

• You skillfully navigate competing priorities in a complex, globally distributed environment • You have a curious streak and can identify and recommend opportunities to own competitive white space in a crowded, homogenous industry • You manage strictly to deadlines but are willing to pitch in wherever writing support is required

• You are comfortable working on your own and as part of a team, and can balance multiple business stakeholder and vendor relationships, collaborating effectively with internal partners

• You continually sharpen and refine your skills and stay well-informed on how to deliver new and innovative content.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, journalism or digital marketing

• 8-10 years of professional experience developing content for global financial services or other regulated industry

• Demonstrated storytelling experience and a strong portfolio showcasing a range of content formats and digital executions

• Internal client management expertise; exceptional interpersonal skills

• Familiarity with generative AI applications and how they can support content development and digital marketing.
