Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Systems Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Support hardware design engineering to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-464 and MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC requirements.
Development of the Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC) test plans and test procedures to meet the Data Item Descriptions and witness associated testing.
Contribute to the development of E3 CDRLs, which may include the E3 Integration and Analysis Report (E3IAR), E3 Verification Procedures (E3VP) and E3 Verification Reports (E3VR).
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of testing methods and equipment.
Test planning, execution, reporting, and integration support.
Prepare detailed test reports and support formal verification of the system.
Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware component.
Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of verification.
Product integration, regression, and verification testing including checkout in system test labs.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Principal Systems Engineer
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 1 years with PhD.
Senior Principal Systems Engineer
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s Degree; 4 years with PhD.
Required for both levels:
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Basic understanding of E3 and EMI principles and techniques.
• An understanding of mechanical and electrical designs, functions, integration, and interfaces.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-464; MIL-STD-461
• Experience with equipment, sub-system, and system level EMI/EMC test setup and execution (expertise in MIL-STD 461, automotive or commercial EMI/EMC testing).
• Experience with design for EMI/EMC compliance and system level integration (bonding, grounding, shielding, filtering, transient suppression).
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher with an investigation date within the las 6 years
• Automated EMI test software and data collection – TILE!
• Proficient with requirements and MBSE management tools.
• Proficient with DOORS, Cameo, and/or Rhapsody.
• Ability to solve problems and drive tasks to completion.
• Ability to present engineering findings orally and in written technical reports and presentations.
• Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment.
• The ability to understand and properly apply electromagnetic interference and compatibility theory, design, and test mechanisms.
• Experience with E3 CDRLs such as E3 Verification Procedures (E3VP) and E3 Verification Reports (E3VR)
• Working knowledge of MIL-STD-464 and MIL-STD-461.
• Prior weapon system experience (GBSD, Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience).
• Systems Engineering experience.
Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $139,000.00Salary Range 2: $114,900.00 - $162,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
