Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Principal/Sr Principal Electrical Circuit Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The individual in this role will serve as a Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) for electronic hardware components on the Aerospace Vehicle. The scope spans requirements derivation, design, development, analysis, verification, and production of hardware, plus laboratory testing and flight test support. This position reports to the Custom Electronics (CE) Lead within the Command & Launch team.

What You'll Get to Do:
The engineer will perform technical analysis and design tasks, including developing and analyzing Analog, RF, Digital, and System hardware; analyzing system test data to ensure that chassis, circuit card assembly (CCA), and component selections meet design requirements; developing and reviewing printed wiring board (PWB) and CCA designs in Siemens Xpedition.
The engineer will also support and conduct developmental testing (breadboard and concept verification) and will support production testing and production builds.
Additional responsibilities include supporting EMI testing and mitigation and EMC compliance reporting; attending Engineering Review Board and/or Change Control Board meetings, and supporting document and hardware review and approval; providing hardware support to software development, creating test procedure documentation and training packages, selecting and testing replacement components due to diminishing manufacturing sources (DMS), and supporting field questions and testing; supporting production testing of deliverable hardware, and collaboratively working on multidisciplinary engineering team(s).

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Electrical Circuit Design Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience
Sr Principal Electrical Circuit Design Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience
Basic Qualifications Required for Both Levels:
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
5 + years of electrical engineering experience in design, development, and test of mixed signal circuits
Experience utilizing Siemens Xpedition, Altium Designer, or a similar development suite for Schematic Capture, CCA Layout, and/or DRC.
Experience with electronic bench-top testing
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working and communicating effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
An active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Experience with Siemens Hyperlynx SI and Power Analysis
Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
Experience with Spice, MathCAD, MATLAB, or other simulation tool suites
Experience designing, developing, and testing high speed digital circuits
Experience with EMI and EMC compliance and reporting
Ability to work with little direct supervision, self-motivated, and self-starting
Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities
Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
