Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Senior Staff – Chief Architect in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah, and supports the Sentinel program.

What you will get to do:
Lead weapon system architecture development activities within the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) in support of the Sentinel program’s Restructure activitiesProvide program-wide Systems Engineering leadership, partnering with flight, command & launch, training and support segment Systems Engineering teams to ensure a consistent implementation and execution of the requirements, processes, tools and productsProvide weapon system architectural guidance to the Chief Engineer and the Sentinel Restructure Integrator ensuring consistency with existing EMD executionExecute Systems Engineering processes and approaches leveraging modern Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes & tools towards Milestone B recertificationPartner with the Air Force customer and the EMD execution team to ensure Weapon System requirements are met through the analysis of the Critical Designs of the flight, command & launch, training and support segments and ultimately the verification of all Weapon System requirementsFormulate system-level, subsystem, and component or other lower-level risk reduction and design maturation activities as part of Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction objectivesSupport Sentinel Restructure strategy, including technical development, advisement, and trade study resolution as requiredSupport hardware and deliverable focused deep dives within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)Supports strategically valuable technical interchange meetings with Sentinel partnersAdditional responsibilities may include:
Partner with the Sentinel Weapon System Architect to ensure overall Weapon System design integrity satisfies USG Weapon System requirementsTake leadership role in providing insight and knowledge transfer to others on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problemsProvide technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to the wider engineering team in the application of scientific principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical end resultsImprove program-wide Systems Engineering processes to reduce EMD execution cost and schedule risk while maintaining high technical rigorBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 14 years of progressive engineering experience; 12 years with Master’s; 10 years with PhD.Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 yearsMust have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needsModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experienceDemonstrated ability to formally present technical solutions to senior leadershipMinimum of 6 years of experience formally leading engineering teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goalExperience with flight and ground systems development, including systems architecture definition, requirements allocation, system integration, risk management, and verification and test planningAbility to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgroundsThese Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
ICBM or complex aerospace systems development experience5 years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account managerDemonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationshipsPrior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnelStrong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing prioritiesExperience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needsDemonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situationsStrong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient mannerActive DoD TS/SCI clearancePosition Benefits

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary Range: $162,500.00 - $243,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
